Elderly Couple Charged With 38 Counts Of Animal Cruelty for Reported Dog Breeding Operation

According to arrest reports, 75-year-old Larry Dale Moore and 73-year-old Rhonda Simmons Moore voluntarily surrendered to authorities at the Athens Police Department on Wednesday.

The investigation began when residents reported a foul odor coming from their home on Lindsay Lane, prompting officers to execute a search warrant on March 31. It was there that law enforcement reportedly discovered numerous dogs living under deplorable conditions, lacking adequate food, water, and veterinary care. With the assistance of veterinarians from the Limestone Veterinary Clinic, police managed to remove the animals from the premises.
