Woman Allegedly Caught on Video Inflicting Violence on Puppy Faces Animal Cruelty Charges Amid Outrage

A 23-year-old woman, Havanna Miller, is reportedly facing serious charges for alleged animal cruelty after a disturbing video surfaced, apparently capturing her striking her 3-month-old poodle with a belt. The incident, which allegedly took place on a balcony of her apartment complex in San Antonio, has sparked outrage among local residents and animal welfare advocates.

As reported, the footage, taken by a neighbor, allegedly shows Miller abusing the puppy, named Thanos, by whipping it 17 times while the animal cried out in distress. Sally Arnold, a member of various dog advocacy groups on Facebook, shared the video after being sent it by an eyewitness. Arnold, reportedly overwhelmed by the sight, expressed her disbelief that anyone could inflict such pain on a defenseless animal.

Multiple individuals, including a the neighbor, allegedly witnessed the incident and attempted to intervene. The neighbor apparently told Miller through her doorbell camera that she had seen the abuse and offered to pay for the puppy, suggesting that if Miller refused, she would call law enforcement with the video evidence. Reports suggest Miller initially appeared willing to negotiate but raised the price after the neighbor mentioned gathering donations for the puppy’s purchase.

Despite the community’s willingness to help Thanos, a second source apparently reported the incident to the authorities, which prompted San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) and the police to investigate further. On Friday evening, ACS obtained a warrant and took custody of the vulnerable puppy, securing its safety.

Miller was arrested the following day and charged with animal cruelty-torture, a third-degree felony that could result in a prison sentence of two to ten years.
