Three Dead Puppies Reportedly Discovered Without Access to Food or Water

Chronic neglect allegedly led to the deaths of three puppies in Connecticut. The woman charged with their deaths, Catherine Palmer, reportedly was in possession of seven more puppies and two elder dogs at the time of her arrest. This tragedy could have been even graver, and accountability should be a top priority.

Palmer does not seemingly even live at the residence where she was said to have kept the animals. They reportedly lacked access to even basic food and water. Tenants of the building had reported at least one unresponsive puppy, kickstarting the investigation. These witnesses later alleged that the accused woman had attempted to replace the ailing puppy with a healthier animal in order to fool authorities. Conditions at the residence where the other dogs lived were extremely unsanitary, according to reports.

Even after this initial incident, the vulnerable animals remained in this seemingly unlivable household until another distress call from the same tenants. By this time, three of the young animals had reportedly lost their lives. Even worse, Palmer was allegedly running an unlicensed pet shop while these poor animals were suffering.

Louisiana Man Accused of Viciously Attacking Police Dog

A man is accused of viciously attacking a police dog during Mardi Gras.

A man allegedly threw Mardi Gras beads at a K-9 police dog in an act of hostility towards the dog.

The incident reportedly happened at the Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras parade. Vernon Cotton allegedly threw wrapped-up beads at the dog. Sadly, the beads apparently hit the dog in the face. The beads likely  injured the dog, as they were said to be the size of a basketball. Authorities report that the beads were purposely thrown at the animal, since the officer and the dog were the only ones standing near the parade float when it passed.

Although Cotton was booked on a Simple Cruelty to Animals charge, he was released shortly afterward.

The man allegedly threw the beads at the dog while on a parade float at the Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras parade. Unfortunately, the dog was said to be hit hard in the face and likely suffered a great amount of pain, since the beads were thought to weigh as much as a basketball.

Cotton was immediately arrested for this alleged crime, however he was then granted permission to go home without further investigation.

Kittens are Being Dyed Purple to Mark Them as Bait in Dog Fights

A kitten escaped from a dog fighting ring where he would have been viciously torn apart. However, the dog fighting ring still hasn’t been busted.

A small kitten was dyed partially purple for the purpose of being used in a dog fighting ring. Though this one kitten managed to escape, there are likely many more out there still suffering due to this disturbing cruelty.

The black and white kitten was luckily found by a UPS driver and taken to the Southside Animal Shelter. The kitten’s white fur was dyed purple, a clear indicator to employees that he was intended to be used in a dog fighting ring. Shelter officials explained on social media that dog fighters dye kittens various colors and make bets on which kitten will be destroyed first by the dogs.

Luckily, most of the dye came off the kitten, and shelter employees were able to provide him with a safe and stable environment. This kitten will have the chance to be adopted by a loving family. However, there are likely many other kittens that are being abused by dog fighters in the city.

The Southside Animal Shelter recently took in a black and white kitten that likely escaped from a dog fighting ring. Authorities are working to find the people who are responsible for these horrific events but no suspects have been named.

A UPS driver turned the kitten over to the shelter after finding him in an industrialized area. Shelter officials noticed the kitten’s white fur had been dyed purple and explained that kittens were dyed different colors and used in dog fighting circles. Unfortunately, the culprits are said to make bets on things like what kitten will survive the longest among the dogs.

A dog was found by police running loose in a Dallas neighborhood. The dog, an 8-year-old German Shepard named Lucky, appeared to have severe untreated wounds across his body. The police managed to capture Lucky and take him to a local veterinarian, where he was treated for the badly infected wounds.

A dog was found by police running loose in a Dallas neighborhood. The dog, an 8-year-old German Shepard named Lucky, appeared to have severe untreated wounds across his body. The police managed to capture Lucky and take him to a local veterinarian, where he was treated for the badly infected wounds.

Upon examination, the vet noticed the wounds in Lucky’s ear were old and untreated and, as a result, had been infested with maggots. The vet speculated that these wounds had possibly occurred from a past dog fight and became infected when they went untreated. Lucky had to undergo two hours of surgery to repair the infected wounds and to completely remove his left ear. The surgery was extra complicated due to the copious amounts of dead tissue.

The Dallas SPCA has been given temporary custody of Lucky while the police investigation continues. Any tips regarding Lucky’s history are greatly appreciated by the SPCA.
